The boss is back in town, Magnus Carlsen achieves nice victory in Qatar chess open.

It seems like the viking monarch of chess is back, looks like he has regained the strength of former glorious times, and those recently bad tournaments are a thing of the past. This time the victim of the Norwegian ogre was elite chinese player GM Li Chao (2750), there was expectation about how Magnus would do to a GM nearing the elite, no one got dissapointed, in a Grunfeld defense both sides castled opposite sides and a bloody struggle began, however it seems that Carlsen saw it all in an incredibly long forced variation that the computer analyzed accurately in advance, Magnus followed the complicated line move by move confirming the incredible calculation skills of the woold champ, when he is on the zone is an monster, just like Kasparov in the day.

Hard loss for Chinese superstar Wei Yi at the Qatar chess open.

In chess, sometimes stubbornness pays highly, you resist in a lost position, you hang in where others resign, you keep fighting until the last drop of blood and somehow you bring the point home. This happened to IM Vinesh (2422) against elite player and chinese wizard GM Wei Yi (2730), in a spanish opening Wei kept winnings chances all the game but, as said, Vinesh never gave up until the chinese player, perhaps tired by the hard defense put by his opponent, exchanged queens in a dead draw position getting a lost one and resigning in the act. This is a hard defeat but by no means a decline in the strength of Wei Yi, in fact, he was playing bright chess until the final error, let´s no forget he is only 16. On the other hand Vinesh has played a nice tournament and surely will gain a handful of ELO points in this great tournament.

Lichess: the best online chess gaming site in the universe.

1. A little bit of history.  In case you, dear chess friend, have been living under a rock for the last 3 or 4 years, maybe you haven´t notice the great changes in the chess gaming scene. Let me start by writing some history, probably the first servers (around 1993) where based in the now ancient FICS (free internet chess server), it forked in a number of engines, most famous being the worldwide famous "ICC" (Internet chess club) that was the place everyone wanted to be in, almost every GM from the chess elite played there, even Kasparov, and famous legends arouse, perhaps the biggest is that history about none other than Bobby Fischer playing anonymously and crushing everyone playing the likes of 1. f3 and defeating venerable GM's to shame. Ok. that was between late nineties and late 2000's. Well, now the scene has been changing quickly with the advent of Chess.com, Chess24, Playchess from Chessbase etc. what have all these sites in common? they are all great if yo

Underdog Chilean player defeats former WC candidate Boris Gelfand and becomes the sensation at the FIDE chess world cup

Cristobal Henriquez, young promising Chilean champion is doing history at the FIDE chess world cup by defeating no other than elite player, former world championship candidate Boris Gelfand. In the first game Cristobal showed extreme resiliency by helding Gelfand to a draw in game that he was losing all the time, but managed to hang on and a tired Gelfand saw some chances for get mated and soon offered a draw. In the second game Cristobal managed to draw with white, and then came the rapid-tiebreaks, probably unknown to Gelfand is that Henriquez is a very strong rapid chess player and again with white managed to get a draw, Gelfand, desperate to win offered a pawn with no compensation at all, even giving chances to his opponent, Henriquez didn´t dissapoing and won the game and match. Other notable southamerican players managed to advance are Granda from Peru and Mareco from Argentina who dispatched notably strong opponent Ni-Hua from China.

It's a high quality film with splendid art and photography direction, i would say this is one of the best efforts on the chess subject ever. Definitely a must see if you are a chess fan.

Still wondering who will be the next world chess championship challenger??? stop there, here is the guy who will beat Magnus Carlsen.

Dear chess colleague, you have been observing the meteoric rise of Magnus Carlsen from wonderkid to world champion, you have been trying to figure out who will be his nemesis to no avail, you are still waiting for Nakamura to win a single game against "Sauron", you wonder if Caruana has enough skills to kick his way to the world championship, you still have to see a decent win by Topalov by means other than running out of time due to neglectful organizers... Well, this is your day of luck because then search has ended, that challenger is not a top 10, is not russian, not even a westerner, this guy is from China and has the best winning streak since Carlsen's not only that, he has some brilliant wins under his hood, his style is dynamic and his game is supported by superb tactical skills that reminds the notable punishments of no other than Mikhail Tahl. Wei Yi is only 16 years old, a child prodigy, at this time is rating is 2726 and raising steadily, sure there is anoth

Anand defeats Carlsen who is playing the worst tournament of his career.

Magnus Carlsen is playing his worst tournament since he became part of the chess elite, carrying just half a point in four games, the first shock came when in a favorable position lost on time to Topalov, next Caruana made him suffer another defeat, now it was time for Vishy Anand to take a sweet revenge against his nemesis, in a spanish opening Carlsen avoided the Berlin defense which we could say is the "Stonewall" against the Ruy Lopez, this decision is no surprise since we came out badly from the opening in his game against Fabiano Caruana. Vishy insisted on 6.d3, a line that has given bittersweet results against the world champion. But this time he managed to exert a strong pressure on the kingside and by move 38 had decisive advangate, time came for black to give the quality and white penetrated with his rook treating to create a massive damage on black exposed pawns. I think the "bad form" of Carlsen is in no way diminishing the strong playing by Anand, now

Draw your SOA Integration architecture diagram on yED using the EIP symbols.

If your daily work includes SOA and enterprise integration then you surely know about the famous book by Gregor Hohpe "Enterprise Integration Patterns" a modern classic on the matter that is plenty of beautiful symbols representing several concepts such as messages, channels, endpoints, queues etc. I bet you have been struggling with the fact that neither Visio nor other famous diagramming tools doesn´t include these symbols on their palettes, sure you can search a non official resource, but believe that it won´t be easy to set up, and probably won't work as expected. But there is a simple alternative, just use yEd , a free graph editor by yWorks, a nice and very productive diagramming tool, give it chance. But, yEd, being very nice itself, doesn´t include a EIP symbols palette, fortunately it's easy to solve this issue. Just download the icons file  and decompress it wherever you want, now open yEd , go to the palette, right click and create a "new section&

Smart Mobile Studio, the rise of compiled JS programming languages and why the future is happening right now.

Javascript is the present and future of pretty much every web based technology either desktop or backend, no doubt about it, just look at the impressive momentum of tools suchs as Angular and Node.js, look at the efforts of giant companies strongly trying to deliver the next holy grail of  JS compiled programming languages, to my mind comes Microsoft with Typescript and Google with Dart. They both try to fill the gap between an obscure and alien language like JS and the elegance and productivity of object oriented, garbage collected languages. If you (like me) miss some nice IDE with superproductive features that enable to build production quality JS desktop and server apps i recommend you to look no further at software giants like already mentioned Google and Microsoft the answer to your problems could be in a small, Norway based software shop. Smart Mobile Studio is the creation of a small team of programming gurus very well known inside the Delphi Community, did i say "Delp
